Gold Protocol: Pre-Treatment Instructions:

  • Arrive at the office with a clean face, no makeup, or products on the skin.
  • Avoid blood thinning medications for 3 days prior to treatment. This includes OTC medications like ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, as well as herbal supplements such as garlic, vitamin E, Gingko biloba and St. John's wort.
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior treatment to reduce the risk of bruising/bleeding.

Gold Protocol: Post-Treatment Instructions:

  • Avoid application of products such as makeup or lotions to the treated area for at least 4 hours.
  • Massage the neck lightly for 15-30 seconds, twice daily for 1 week. You can do this while applying skin care products.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment.
  • Avoid extreme heat/cold for 24-48 hours i.e. saunas, hot tubs or cold plunges.
  • Use Tylenol for discomfort for the first 24 hours; after this you may use NSAID’s (Advil/Aleve/Aspirin).
  • Try to sleep with head slightly elevated to minimize swelling.
  • Consider having Arnica (topical or oral) at home to help reduce the risk of bruising.
  • Be on the lookout for the rare complication of vascular occlusion. Symptoms include whitening of the skin, severe pain, and severe bruising.
  • It can take ~2 weeks for the products to even out after placement. If at the two-week mark you have any concerns, please contact the office to come in for a checkup.
